Xbox Media Player b6 Manual
(v0.2)
Tutorial
written

Well
i decided
to make
this so-called
manual
because
there
is none
for this
beta release
(b6) and
it kicks
ass!
1
Installation
Some
people
can't
get the
player
to start
at first,
here i'll
explain
how to
get it
to work.
1.1
Setting
Up the
"xbconfig.xml"
-First
of All,
open a
xml editor
(Notepad
will work)
-Where
it says
<map>,
leave
the two
partitions
if you
changed
your HDD
with Evox,
I recommend
to not
partition
F if you
didn't
(just
erase
the F
partition
MAP line).
-Then
Select
Install
folder
(i.e.
<install>e:\xbplayer</install>
)
-The
next folder,
is where
you keep
your files
(avi,
jpg, mp3...)
select
that folder.
I preffer
to use
a HDD
folder
instead
of the
DVD Drive,
since
you can
just navigate
to it.
-If you
use evox
and have
IP setting
already,
leave
the next
two fields
with an
asterisk,
like this:
<localhost*>192.168.1.11</localhost*>
<gateway*>192.168.1.1</gateway*>
If you
want to
use it
as a dashboard
replacement,
I recommend
to change
those
to your
IP and
Gateway.
-The
next filed
is for
Xstream
servers,
if you
don't
have an
xstream
server
and don't
plan to
get one,
place
asterisks
in there,
so it
won't
try to
connect
at all.
<remotehost>192.168.0.15</remotehost>
for xstream
servers
(change
IP)
<remotehost*>192.168.0.15</remotehost*>
to avoid
"searching
for xstream
servers"
- And
last,
change
the dashboard
name,
if you
renamed
you M$dash
to msxboxdhas,
then put
it like
this:
<dashboard>msxboxdash.xbe</dashboard>
if not,
change
the name
to anything
you could
have.
This filed
is mainly
for the
msdahsboard
(or any
xbe actually)
since
the Start
Button
takes
you to
the default
dashboard.
